Why Manchester City Will Win The Title

Manchester City have already bolstered their squad for next season, and look more determined than ever to win the Premier League.

Last season was Pep Guardiola’s first in English football, and the first trophyless campaign of his managerial career. However, this season the Spaniard will win the Premier League with City.

It would be unfair to say injuries did not effect Manchester City last season, as they unquestionably did: skipper Vincent Kompany made just 11 appearances in a difficult year for the Belgian.

New boy Gabriel Jesus also missed out on crucial football, after injury restricted him to just ten league games. He still managed seven goals.

City finished third last year. However, I feel if Guardiola could keep Kompany and co. fit for the duration of the campaign, they would have run Chelsea close.

This season the Citizens will be expected to win at least one trophy. The added pressure should spur them on. Although the team is young, there are winners- take Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, and Kevin De Bruyne for an example, they strive to win.

Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling are only going to get better. With Aguero and Gabriel Jesus alongside them, arguably, Manchester City have one of the most frightening front lines in world football. Let’s not forget, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva will be in the same team as these four.

But they have no defense you say

Of course defense has been the issue for so many years now. Kompany’s fitness issues and John Stones’ inability to defend the eventual downfall of last season.

With Ederson signing in goal for a record fee, and reports of Kyle Walker and Dani Alves joining Pep Guardiola’s squad, it could be a frighteningly good campaign up ahead for City.

Another center back should be a priority for Guardiola now. With Otamendi and Stones seemingly not good enough to start alongside Kompany. Virgil van Dijk is the link that will not go away all summer.

This is a side that needs to be challenging for titles, and for me nobody will come close to them this season. Their firepower will be too much for teams to handle.
