West Ham name David Moyes as manager after sacking Slaven Bilic

London, UK – West Ham have named David Moyes as manager after the club sacked Slaven Bilic. In addition, the Scot will remain with the club until the end of the season. The east London club sacked Bilic on Monday morning after last weekend’s 4-1 defeat by Liverpool.

Moyes left Sunderland last summer after overseeing the club’s relegation to the Championship. Additionally, he had two previous failures in management after brief spells at Real Sociedad and Manchester United.

West Ham joint chairman David Sullivan said the 54-year-old Scot is “the right man to turn things around”.

He added: “We need somebody with experience, knowledge of the Premier League and the players in it, and we believe David can get the best out of the players.

Moyes’ first game in charge will be at Watford in the Premier League on November 19. Following the Watford match, West Ham host Leicester City and go to Everton. December will bring league games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Scot’s job will be difficult with his side only taking nine points from 11 League matches and conceding 23 goals.
