Sevilla and Argentina confirm Jorge Sampaoli will take over as manager of the national team

Buenos Aires, Argentina – Sevilla and Argentina confirm Jorge Sampaoli will take over as manager of his country’s national team. Additionally, after several days of negotiation, Sevilla has made the announcement confirming the move.

“Sevilla FC and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) have reached a principle of agreement for the untying of coach Jorge Sampaoli as coach of the entity of Nervión to be able to exercise as coach of Argentina.

This principle of agreement is pending of the drafting and presentation of the pertinent documents. Documents that must be signed by both parties next Thursday, June 1st. ”

More importantly, Sevilla will now have to start anew with new coach and sporting director as Monchi left for Roma this past April. Under those circumstances, the club will have to move pieces in a dramatic way. Sevilla is considering Eduardo Berizzo and Mauricio Pellegrino to replace Sampaoli.

All in all, several clubs such as Barcelona, Southampton, Everton and Arsenal filtered interest in the 57-year-old manager. Argentina had always been Sampaoli’s desire. Before the hiring of Edgardo Bauza last August, Sampaoli wanted to leave Sevilla.

Furthermore, AFA put out a similar statement on its website this Friday. However, they had been in constant communication since August with Sampaoli.
