Transfer Window – As It’s Happened So Far

World Football

The transfer break so far has been thoroughly interesting. As it so often is. With more and more money coming into the game every year, the fees keep getting bigger and the wages keep expanding. Money is king in terms of football these days. The days of a 10 million bargain are gone, replaced by extortionate fees for average players.

Football has indeed gone mad, but as interesting as ever. Let’s look at the top four stories from the transfer period so far.

Morata to United.

Will he, won’t he? The words on most United fans lips and football fans alike. The Madrid man has taken over from Antoine Griezmann as the hot topic of the transfer window. The fee is supposedly 70 million, a mental fee for a player who wasn’t first choice at Madrid last season. This story has gathered major traction and many believe it to be dead cert on happening. Former Sky Sports analyst Richard Keys reported the deal as done the other day on Twitter.

Probability of this deal happening- 4.5/5

Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea/ Costa To Leave.

The Premier League’s second top goalscorer is leaving Everton. That we know for sure. Lukaku was the man who broke the news himself.

He said ” “My agent knows what is going to happen and I know as well. I’m staying calm and we have an agreement with the club as well.

We stay calm and at least we have a direction where we want to go. I want to take everything to another level and be better than I was last year.

Lukaku joining Chelsea if it happens will be as a replacement for the unhappy Diego C0sta, who was told by Antonio Conte over text that he is “not part of his plans for next season”

All eyes on the Premier League champions for the next few weeks, as the drama unfolds.

Probability of Lukaku joining Chelsea- 4.7/5.

Antoine Griezmann To United

This was the biggest transfer story of the summer by far, and it happened at the very beginning. The highly rated French striker teased and teased at the beginning of the window. Griezmann even stated on French Tv that the probability of him joining United was “6/10”. But Atletico’s transfer ban threw a spanner in the works. Whether Griezmann would of signed if the transfer ban had been lifted can only be known by himself and the clubs involved. United were all but ready to sign the Frenchman, with many touting it as a done deal for weeks. But Griezmann  has publicly stated that was “Atleti now more then ever”. He also stated it would be a dirty move to leave the club now. I don’t see this being the end of Griezmann and United though.

Probability of this transfer-2.5/5

Sanchez to leave Arsenal.

This one, much to to the dissatisfaction of Arsenal fans looks to be happening. Alexis Sanchez is set to leave Arsenal, and his proposed destination is either City or Bayern Munich. Arsenal are desperate to make Sanchez join Bayern, not wanting to sell him to a rival. But Sanchez desired destination is said to be Man City. 40 million is the fee that will take Sanchez away from Arsenal, and his asking price for the wage is upwards of 300k a week.

The news of Sanchez leaving will be double heartbreak for most Arsenal fans after Wenger signed a new deal, but they will be desperate to replace this fan favourite.

Probability of this transfer- 4.8-5
