6,000 Fans Watch Zidane’s First Training

La Liga

Madrid, Spain – In 114 years of history, Zinedine Zidane becomes the first french manager to coach the first team, and he’s probably one of the best ever to have played this beautiful game.

The three-time World Player of the Year was greeted with chants of his name and cheers as he led his new squad out for training on Tuesday at the Spanish capital’s Alfredo Di Stefano stadium.

As many as 6,000 fans watched him take first-team training at the club’s Valdebebas base.

In his first conference at the helm of the team, Zidane says comparisons with Pep Guardiola are wide of the mark. But Zidane said: “You shouldn’t make comparisons with me and Guardiola. He has achieved incredible things.”

“Guardiola is Guardiola. “I will do my best. I will not compare myself with anyone. I never did it as a player and I won’t do it now.”

Zidane’s first game in charge of the first team will be Saturday’s clash with Deportivo La Coruna at the Bernabeu.
