Abandon Ship: TNA Impact Wrestling Losing Major Stars?

It looks as if some major players in TNA are taking the new logo to heart. as news has been coming out that a few stars are looking to leave the company for better opportunities. The first names that were confirmed were “Broken” Matt Hardy, Jeff “Brother Nero” Hardy, and Reby Sky-Hardy, as news spread quickly that they were not re-signing with the company once their contracts were up.

Reby Sky-Hardy recently went on Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca, confirming that the team would not be returning and that the decision was not made until just a few days ago. According to Hardy, the duo didn’t receive their contracts for renewal until just five days before their current contracts were set to expire, and the team felt as if the company was trying to bully them into re-signing. She went on to say that there shouldn’t be a situation where talents such as Matt and Jeff should be chasing their employers to reach new deals.

“Matt is in love with his Broken Universe; he’s not about to let that go anytime soon. I can confirm that for sure. It’s kind of his baby, his brainchild, and he took such a risk with it.” – Reby Sky-Hardy

She also would go on to say that TNA was a great fit for the group, that the locker room was “amazing”, and also praised former TNA co-owner Dixie Carter, citing that Carter knew how to talk to people, and also stated that she didn’t care about the difficulties that the company had last year, and that the efforts of the locker room showed it.

Reby said that Matt would definitely keep on with the Broken gimmick, when asked about it, saying:

“Matt is in love with his Broken Universe; he’s not about to let that go anytime soon. I can confirm that for sure. It’s kind of his baby, his brainchild, and he took such a risk with it. Even I was telling him, ‘Dude, this accent, it’s gotta go.’ Everyone was like, ‘You’re crazy, this is dumb!’ But he kept on with it and it kept evolving. It’s his baby, so there will be broken wherever there is Matt Hardy.”

She also stated post-interview that the Hardys wanted to do right by the fans and drop the belts on TV, but that Anthem had other plans, and wouldn’t honor the request.

But, the Hardys are not the only stars to have left, as wrestling power couple “Miracle” Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis-Bennett have also severed ties with TNA. The couple’s contracts ended by winter of 2016, and had been working on a per appearance basis, as per a report by PW Insider.

It was said that the couple was working with the company on a new contract that all parties could agree on, and had apparently reach such a deal, only for the Bennetts to later opt out of signing.
