The New York Islanders just can’t stay healthy. Islanders forward Anders Lee is out indefinitely with a fractured left fibula, according to the teams Twitter account. Lee was hit by a slap shot from his teammate Johnny Boychuk in the first period of the Islanders 4-1 on Thursday night. While it isn’t known if he will need surgery to repair his leg, it is unlikely he plays again this season.

Injuries are starting to pile up for the Islanders, who go into there final regular season game without goaltender Jaroslav Halak, defenseman Travis Hamonic, and forward Mikhail Grabovski. Forwards Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Martin, defenseman Brian Strait, and goaltender JF Berube all missed Thursday’s game as well. While Halak and Hamonic are not expected to be back before the playoffs, there is no timetable on when Clutterbuck, Grabovski, or Martin will return to the lineup.

Lee,25, had an impressive rookie season, scoring 25 goals and 41 points just a year ago. His production has gone down this year, only scoring 15 goals and 36 points this season, but has found a place in front of the net on the Power Play. That’s where the big winger was when he was struck with the puck, most likely ending his season.
