Auto Club 400 At Auto Club Speedway Preview

This weekend, NASCAR’s finest 39 drivers tackle Auto Club Speedway for the Auto Club 400. Here are several storylines to watch this weekend?

4 The Force: Kevin Harvick’s early season run is nothing new in recent seasons. But, with 2 wins in the last 3 races makes him a clear favorite to not only win again this weekend, but the early odds in pick for the championship upon Homestead in November.

Will Kyle Busch Finally Break Through?: Despite 3 straight wins in the XFINITY Series, Kyle Busch hasn’t seen victory lane since winning the championship last November. Sure, he may be tied for the Sprint Cup points lead, but with zero wins Harvick owns the tiebreaker with two entering the Auto Club 400. Consistency will only last for so long for Kyle, it seems only fitting that his first win of the season could come at one of his strongest tracks.

Rookies Holding Up On Their Own: The Rookie Of The Year battle has so far fit the billing on the track. Chase Elliot and Ryan Blaney are neck and neck with two top 10’s each so far this season. However, Blaney leads the standing by only 4 points entering the Auto Club 400.

Low Downforce Package Earns High Praise: “I know we still have some other types of tracks to visit with this low downforce package and tire combination Goodyear is bringing, but I’m giving these first four races not two, but three thumbs up,” McReynolds wrote on earlier this week. And he’s not the only one giving it it’s support this early. Several drivers have praised the package despite making it harder to drive the cars and themselves thanks to tight racing and close finishes.

Below is some NASCAR Fantasy advice for the Auto Club 400 and the drivers to consider and to avoid:

Drivers To Consider: Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Paul Menard, and Jamie McMurray

Drivers To Avoid: Greg Biffle, Trevor Bayne, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Clint Bowyer, and Aric Almirola

Potential Sleepers: Brian Vickers, Ryan Newman, Casey Mears, Kyle Larson, and Chris Buescher

The Auto Club 400 starts Sunday at 3:30pm EST on FOX
