Bad Boy Off Road 300 At New Hampshire Preview

This weekend, NASCAR’s finest head to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Bad Boy Off Road 300. This is the 28th race of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup season and the 2nd race in the Chase For The Sprint Cup. In last years running, Matt Kenseth beat out JGR teammate Denny Hamlin for the win and a birth into the round of 12.

Chase Update: With one race in the books for the Round of 16, Here’s the points standings entering the Bad Boy Off Road 300: Martin Truex Jr. (advanced to next round with win at Chicagoland), Brad Keselowski (22 points ahead of Austin Dillon on the cutoff line), Kyle Busch (+19), Denny Hamlin (+18), Joey Logano (+16), Chase Elliott (+12), Matt Kenseth (+11), Jimmie Johnson (+10), Carl Edwards (+5), Kurt Busch (+4), Jamie McMurray (+3), Tony Stewart (+1), Austin Dillon (-1), Kevin Harvick (-1), Kyle Larson (-2) and Chris Buescher (-11).

Kenseth Chasing Three Straight New Hampshire Wins: There’s something about the New Hampshire air that Matt Kenseth likes as of late. Not only he enters his race title defense 7th in points, but he has won the last 2 races held at the Magic Mile. Only two prior drivers went back-to-back at New Hampshire, Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson.

Is Chase Peaking At Chase Time?: Elliott slowed for a while after his hot start to the season. From his runner-up showing at Michigan in June through the season finale at Richmond, he produced only two top-10 finishes. But, he changed all that last weekend at Chicagoland, leading 75 laps en route to a third place finish. Is it close for Chase’s time for a clutch first time win?

Stewart Chasing History: Tony Stewart continues his drive for a fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship in his final season at one of his better tracks,  New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He has three wins, sharing the most all time with the likes of Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Newman as far as active drivers are concerned. But, a win Sunday can tie him with Jeff Burton for most all time.
