Barcelona Opts For Jasper Cillessen At Goal

Barcelona has initiated contacts with Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen

Barcelona, Spain – Barcelona have made a formal offer for Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen in a bid to replace the outgoing Claudio Bravo, Sport and Mundo Deportivo reports.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Cillessen has told his Ajax colleagues that “Barca want me” after being “anointed” as Bravo’s successor.

The 27-year-old has beaten off competition from Diego Alves and Pepe Reina among others thanks to his “experience, attacking style and very good footwork”.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is reported to be keen to sign a new goalkeeper before sanctioning Bravo’s move to City, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen battling to be fully fit for the opening La Liga match against Real Betis on Saturday.

Cillessen has claimed three league titles since joining Ajax from NEC in 2011.
