The Chicago Bears have re-signed wide receiver Deonte Thompson to a one-year contract.

The 28-year-old wide receiver and kick returner came into the league in 2012 when he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens. He spent his first two seasons in Baltimore before signing with the Buffalo Bills in December 2014. Deonte Thompson was released by the Bills the following September with an injury settlement.

On September 22, 2015, Chicago signed him to their practice squad before promoting him to the active roster in November. In March 2016 he was re-signed to a one-year contract with the Bears.

Over the course of his five seasons in the NFL, Thompson has appeared in 37 games with six starts. He has accumulated 39 receptions for 477 yards and two touchdowns as a wide receiver as well as averaging 25.4 yards on 71 kickoff returns as the Bears kick returner.

In 2015, Thompson ranked second in the NFL in kickoff return average at 29.2 yards and second in return yards in 2016 with 804 yards.
