B.W. Webb Signs One-Year Contract

The Chicago Bears announced Wednesday evening that they have signed former New Orleans Saints cornerback B.W. Webb to a one-year contract.

Early Years

Webb attended Warwick High School in his hometown of Newport News, Virginia where he was a two-year starter at defensive back and wide receiver for the Raiders.

He received first-team All-Peninsula District accolades as a defensive back in 2007 and honorable mention as a junior.

Not only did he play football, he was also a standout member of the track team. As a runner, he focused on the 55 meter, but also excelled in triple jump and long jump. As a result, he was named to the All-America Team in track and field.

College of William & Mary

Following a redshirt year in 2008, Webb was named as the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Rookie of the Year. He also earned All-CAA second-team honors as a cornerback, and all-league third-team as a punt returner. His eight interceptions, including a pair returned for touchdowns, were tied for second nationally.

His finished his college career with nine postseason all-conference honors and set a school-record with 48 starts.

Professional Career

After being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys with the 114th overall pick in 2013, he would eventually find himself benched in favor of Sterling Moore. He was inactive for their final game of the season.

On August 29, 2014, after being waived by the Cowboys, he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Playing mainly on special-teams, he appeared in eleven games before being released on September 4, 2015.

Four days following his release by the Steelers, the Tennessee Titans signed Webb to their practice squad.

On November 8, 2015, he was promoted to the active roster for a game against the New Orleans Saints, where he recorded his first interception.

He appeared in nine games with two starts for the Titans before being released as a part of their final roster cuts on September 2, 2016.

As a result of losing Delvin Breaux to a broken fibula, the Saints signed Webb to a one-year deal, and he appeared in 14 games with eight starts.

Over the course of his four-years in the NFL, B.W. Webb has played in 48 games and has accumulated 68 total tackles, two interceptions, and 24 passes defensed.

New Home For 2017
