Blue Streak: Royals Win 7th Straight

Many people may have already counted out the defending World Series Champion, Kansas  City Royals, but they may not be done yet.

On Saturday KC won there 7th straight game and won their 5th straight series. After finishing the month of July with a terrible 7-19 record, the Royals have stormed back and now are becoming part of the playoff conversation again.

The Royals now find themselves just 4.5 games back of the second wild-card spot currently held by the Baltimore Orioles.

“We’ve got everything going for us — starting pitching, the bullpen has been spectacular, our defense has been good and we’re starting to swing the bats well,” KC manager Ned Yost said. “That’s a good combination.”

The Royals are being led through this streak by several players that are hitting their stride.
Alex Gordon extended his hitting streak to 11 games; he is 17-for-41 (.415) in that span. He now has homered five times in his last five games and added two in Saturday’s game.  This was his first  multihomer game since May 18, 2014.
Gordon is also joined by another teammate who is streaking too. Lorenzo Cain, now has a seven game hit streak. Cain is 14-for-27 during his hit streak.

Kansas City has also continued to have success from their most dominant pitcher, Left-hander Danny Duffy who is 10-1 with a 2.73 ERA.  The Royals have a long road to travel and a short time to get there; if they can continue to dominate opponents, they may be a team that surprises us all.

KC closes out their series with the Twins on Sunday and hope to keep the Blue Streak rolling right back into the playoffs.
