Forwards Missed most of Game 4 with Injuries

ST. LOUIS-The St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks head into tonight’s pivotal Game 5 (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports) looking to see who will grab a 3-2 series lead. After being shutout in games 2 and 3, the Blues bounced back in a big way in Game 4, getting a 6-3 win to tie the series at 2-2.

They played most of that game without captain David Backes and forward Robby Fabbri. As of yet, it is unknown if both players will be back for tonight’s game.

Backes and Fabbri remain questionable for Game 5 this evening, according to St. Louis coach Ken Hitchcock.

While speaking to the media earlier today, Hitchcock stated that both players would dress for the pregame warm-up and ” then we’ll run a further evaluation for warm-up.”

As is the case at this time of year, the team did not disclose what is ailing both forwards. One would think, though, that it would be something a bit painful as both players played less than 10 minutes in Game 4.

Backes left the game with 5:14 left in the first period. He came out for the second and third periods, but never got off the bench for a shift. Fabbri played two shifts totaling 52 seconds in the third period after playing 8:29 in the first two periods.

Should neither one be able to go tonight, it is expected rugged forwards Ryan Reaves and Steve Ott will replace them in the lineup.
