Bret Hart Prostate Cancer Update

Good news for Hitman fans, as WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart gave a very positive update on his health. He recently told Sportsnet that he has 100 percent recovered after having had surgery for prostate cancer.

In the interview, Hart urged men to get screened for prostate cancer, saying:

“You know, it’s so critical for me to stress … that it’s just a blood test. You gotta go in and get a blood test. If you’re a man over 40, you need to go in. You don’t want to be like my brother, Smith, who’s a guy that didn’t worry about it and it’s too late now.

If you’ve got prostate cancer, if you don’t catch it early, you could die from it. And if you catch it early, you can live a pretty normal life. I would say I’m pretty close to normal.”

It is one year removed from when Hart shared the heartbreaking news to friends, family and fans in a long, heartfelt post over his facebook page, where he spoke of the injuries he had endured during his 23 years in the business. He quoted Mark Helprin, saying: “We are all perfect clocks that Divinity has set to ticking when, even before birth, the heart explodes into a lifelong dance.”

Hart vowed to fight the disease head on, and a full year later, is still here to speak about it. He stated:

“I make a solemn vow to all of those that once believed in me, the dead and the living, that I will wage my fearsome fight against cancer with one shield and one sword carrying my determination and my fury for life, emboldened by all the love that’s kept me going this long already. Love is my weapon and I’ve got much of it around me all the time, for which I’m truly blessed and eternally grateful. My children, grandchildren, and my loving wife Steph have been and will constantly be at my side. I refuse to lose, I will never give in or give up, and I will win this battle or die trying.”
