LA Galaxy Manager Bruce Arena will be named as Jurgen Klinsmann replacement

Los Angeles, California – Former US Men’s National Team and current LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena is set to take over for Jurgen Klinsmann as new head coach of the national team, Sports Illustrated Grant Wahl reports.

According to Sam Borden of the New York Times, current Los Angeles Galaxy coach Bruce Arena is likely to replace Klinsmann on an interim basis. However, Borden notes that details have not been finalized. According to Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated, Arena could be announced as soon as Tuesday.

Having Arena take over makes total sense, if the idea is that he is only the interim head coach until US Soccer decides who will be the official manager of the team.

Arena managed the USMNT from 1998 to 2006, winning two Gold Cups, and he has the most wins as USA coach with 71, 16 more than Klinsmann. He guided the U.S. to the quarterfinals of the 2002 World Cup, the best finish in the modern era. He also coached the team at the 2006 World Cup where the team finished last in its group with one point after playing Italy, Ghana and thee Czech Republic.

Since 2008, he has coached the Galaxy, winning three MLS Cups.
