Struggling Valencia appoint Cesare Prandelli as new coach

Valencia, Spain – Former Italy national team manager Cesare Prandelli will take over as the new coach of La Liga Valencia, according to multiple reports in Spain.

The appointment is said to be made official on Thursday where the Italian strategist has already signed a two-year deal.

Valencia sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch traveled to Italy to meet Prandelli, with the club’s owner Peter Lim ready “to satisfy all his requests” and agreeing that the ex-Fiorentina boss “possesses the necessary experience to revive the team”.

Los Che are 15th in La Liga after starting the season with four straight defeats, which led to the dismissal of Pako Ayesteran, although caretaker Voro has subsequently steadied the ship with successive victories.

Prandelli guided Italy to the Euro 2012 final and third place at the Confederations Cup a year later but resigned in wake of the Azzurri’s group-stage exit from the 2014 World Cup and was sacked later that year by Galatasaray, the last team he has managed.
