Chris Jones Selected 37th In The 2016 NFL Draft

With the 37th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chiefs have selected Defensive Tackle Chris Jones from Mississippi State University.

Chris finished his Bulldog career with 102 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks. He was a part-time player until his senior year.

While Jones is sound as a hitter, he is sometimes plays uptight off the snap. He relies alot on his upper body strength. He can get caught looking in the backfield. He does struggle to put together moves as a pass rusher. He needs to show more purpose and strategy to his rush. Chris tends to play flat-footed and could be easily stood up at the line of scrimmage.

Jones is scheme-versatile, lining up as a one-technique, three-technique, and defensive end on occasion. He has a good blend of size and speed. We are still waiting for him to put it all together, as he flashes in spots and has inconsistent ball awareness.

Chris is sound at the point of attack and will thrive on the next level.  He has potential to succeed with the Chiefs and should be an immediate help as a balanced, three-down defensive lineman.
