Circle Sport and TMG Merge, Obtains Charter For 2017 Season

In another big move this offseason, Circle Sport and TMG announced a merger Friday afternoon starting immediately. Owners of respected teams Joe Falk and Curtis Key, Sr will combine resources to field the 33 entry for the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. The team will continue fielding Chevys in the series.

“It’s great to join forces with Curtis Key, I’ve known him for a very long time and know we share the same feelings about racing.” said Falk. The team will also obtain a charter from Falk, who was a co-owner of Levine-Family Racing last year when it was used there. The charter will give the #33 guaranteed entries and starts into all 36 MENCS events this season.

The newly combined team will have the resources of upgraded equipment and a upgraded shop that will house both parties out of the facility that has been the home of The Motorsports Group in Mooresville, NC. TMG Also bought several new cars during the offseason prior to the merger.

The #33 Circle Sport-TMG Chevy will debut at Daytona International Speedway for Speedweeks in February with veteran crew chief Pat Tryson returning to the helm. Tryson was part of the team in 2015 when it transitioned from XFINITY to CUP. “It’s great to have Pat back with us, he was instrumental when we got started with our Cup program and we look forward to his insight in 2017”, said Key.

Driver and sponsors for the team have yet to be announced for Daytona and beyond, but the team is promoting “several sponsorship opportunities available” in it’s press release.
