Los Angeles Dodgers Ace Clayton Kershaw Placed On 15-day DL

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw has been placed on the 15-day DL with back issues.

Kershaw received an epidural shot of cortisone in his back and was placed on the DL on Thursday.

In his last outing, Kershaw gave up four runs and nine hits against the Pirates. The next day, Kershaw flew from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles to have his back looked at.

Clayton was suppose to start Friday against the Colorado Rockies but that will not be happening. The Dodgers have not announced who will be taking Kershaw’s place in the rotation.

Kershaw who has been having back problems on and off this year is 11-2 with a 1.79 ERA. He has thrown 121 innings this year which is the most in the NL.

The Dodgers ace has a 16.11 strikeout-to-walk ratio. If that pace continues, he will break the record set by Phil Hughes in 2014 (11.63).

The Dodgers are 14-2 when their ace starts and 29-35 when he does not.
