Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Win First National Title

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers have won their first national title in school history. On Thursday, the Chanticleers defeated Arizona 4-3 to claim the title.

In the sixth inning, Coastal scored two unearned runs and added a 2-run homer to become the first team since 1956 to win the title in their first CWS appearance.

Andrew Beckwith was named Most Outstanding Player after earning three wins in the CWS.

Alex Cunningham recorded his first save when he stuck out Ryan Haug on a full-count to end the game.

Not only was this the first national title for Coastal but it was also the first title for the Big South Conference. The Big South will not get much time to savor the title as the Chanticleers become members of the Sun Belt Conference on Friday.
