Concussion Symptoms Sideline Townley For Second Consecutive Race

John Wes Townley will miss his second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race in a row this week after failing to be medically cleared to race. Townley will not participate in this week’s race at Eldora Speedway after also missing the July 7th race at Kentucky.

Townley has a possible concussion according to his Athenian Motorsports team. In his most recent race at Gateway Motorsports Park on June 25th, he was involved in two incidents with Spencer Gallagher. The second accident ended the race for both drivers and left them scuffling on the track after disagreeing about the cause of the crash.

Brady Boswell will pilot the team’s entry in the Aspen Dental Dirt Derby this Wednesday. Boswell has made 6 starts in the ARCA Series this year with a best finish of 5th at Pocono Raceway in June drivng a Mason Mitchell Chevrolet. Parker Kligerman finished 19th substituting at Kentucky.

The Kentucky race was the first Townley has missed after 40 consecutive starts in the series. He picked up his first career win last fall at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

After Eldora, the next NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is at Pocono Raceway on July 30th. Townley will likely be evaluated again prior to that race, at which time a decision regarding his ability to race will be made.
