Cristiano Ronaldo is hurt by Real Madrid booing fans, says team-mate Keylor Navas

Madrid, Spain – Keylor Navas has revealed that Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo feels ‘hurt’ whenever the club’s fans whistle him, Navas told Cadena SER.

“What Cristiano tells us, and what he says to Sergio Ramos, the skipper, is that he loves all the fans,” Navas told SER in the aftermath of Madrid’s victory over Real Sociedad.

“It hurts him that they whistle him, but he knows the majority of the fans support him. He always tries to help the team with goals. He is committed to this club and wants to win trophies, as we all do, to make our fans happy.”

“These things happen; I was new and it took me by surprise at the start. In the end the team is much stronger when the players and fans are united. When the fans support us it gives us a boost. That is what we want.”

The Portuguese international was one of several Madrid stars booed by their own fans in Sunday’s win over Real Sociedad, before he went on to score in a 3-0 victory.

The Portuguese star shined, putting on an assist for Mateo Kovacic before getting on the score sheet.

Ronaldo is third in the scoring stakes on 13 La Liga goals, two behind rival Lionel Messi and three behind Luis Suarez.

With their closest competitors Barcelona and Sevilla recently dropping points, Madrid have maintained their advantage at the summit of La Liga, while still holding a game in hand.

And Navas has called for fans to unite around the team as they bid to get their season back on track and open up further clear water between themselves and their rivals.
