PITTSBURGH-The Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins met in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final at Consol Energy Center on Monday night.

Andrei Vasilevskiy started for the Lightning in Game 2.

Starting goalie Ben Bishop sustained a lower-body injury 12:25 into Game 1 on Friday.

His stick tangled with Penguins forward Patric Hornqvist, who attempted to drive behind the net while Bishop twisted in the opposite direction. Bishop was removed from the ice on a stretcher.

The Penguins counteracted by putting Matt Murray in net, aiming to even the series at 1. Turns out, the Pens’ plan worked.

After an initial save by Vasilevskiy on a two-on-one, Matt Cullen wristed the rebound home to give the Pens a 1-0 lead 4:32 into the opening period.

After a deflection in front, Phil Kessel raced to the circle and buried a loose puck past Vasilevskiy for the Pens’ second goal. Pittsburgh took a 2-0 lead at 9:37.

Anton Stralman, who returned to the lineup for Game 2 after suffering a broken leg late in the season, buried Jonathan Marchessault‘s pass from the circle to cut the deficit in half at 16:37.

Jonathan Drouin fired a shot from the right circle past Murray to tie the game 2-2 at 19:10.

The game was tied at two after 20 minutes.

No goals were scored in the second and third periods, which led to overtime.

It didn’t take long to determine a winner in the extra period.

Just 40 seconds into overtime, Pens captain Sidney Crosby scored the game-winning goal. Crosby fired a one-timer from the left circle over Vasilevskiy’s blocker to lift the Pens past the Lightning 3-2.

The goal was Crosby’s first in eight games and his first career playoff overtime goal.

Murray made 19 saves for Pittsburgh. Vasilevskiy made 38 saves for Tampa Bay. The game was pretty physical, as the Pens outhit the Lightning 47-36.

The best-of-seven series is tied at 1.
