David Wright To Have Neck Surgery

Mets David Wright To Undergo Surgery

New York Mets third baseman David Wright will undergo neck surgery. This decision comes after weeks of tests and injections to try to help the pain Wright is feeling.

Earlier in the year, Wright suffered a herniated disc in his neck. Since then, he has been trying to avoid surgery anyway he can.

This type of surgery comes with a three month recovery time which could end Wright’s season.

The 33 year old Wright has only played in 37 games this year and just 38 games in 2015. In those 75 games, Wright has posted 12 homers and a .260 batting average.

With David Wright on the shelf, the Mets have turned to Wilmer Flores at third base. Flores has hit .320 in 56 at-bats this season.

Along with Flores, the Mets also have Ty Kelly playing a little third base. Kelly Johnson was also signed to provide some depth at the position.

Not having David Wright certainly hurts the Mets but with other players stepping up, it gives the Mets the chance to still be competitive.
