DeSean Jackson to Return to Philadelphia?

Eagles Players Confirm Rumors About DeSean Jackson’s Eagles Return

Rumors have been swirling for some time now that both the Philadelphia Eagles and former receiver DeSean Jackson would be open to a reunion following the departure of Head Coach Chip Kelly.  The chatter has grown louder with Eagles linebacker Brandon Graham confirming DeSean’s interest, as he told CSN Philly’s Breakfast on Broad earlier this week.

“You know,  I’m excited because he should have never left.  Everybody knows that DeSean, yes, things were happening when he was here, but he’s a good guy.  I was with him all the time. “

This was further confirmed when NFL Network host Dan Hellie tweeted about an Instagram live discussion with former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, where McCoy said that Jackson had told him that he would be returning to Philadelphia.

Jackson was cut during the Chip Kelly era following a series of events that left him portraying a bad image in the eyes of the former coach and the Eagles front office.  While he denied any wrongdoing, and had the support of teammates, he was ultimately sent packing before signing a deal with the division-rival Washington Redskins.

The Eagles have an obvious need at the receiver position, and Jackson would help fill one of the spots.  There’s no doubt the impact he had during his career with the Eagles, as he was one of the most electrifying deep threats in the league.  There were always speed guys, but few that could use their speed and hands as well as Jackson did.

The question now, however, is whether or not the price tag will be worth it to bring back an aging player.  The player once known as “D-Jax” recently turned 30 years old, and has shown the inability to stay healthy.  He has however, shown flashes of the player he once was, which is surely intriguing to the front office of a team that has shown the ability to keep aging players like Jason Peters healthy.

To clarfiy, some confusion people have regarding the NFL’s rules on tampering, both the Eagles and DeSean are allowed to express their interest and desire to reunite.  They can say anything they want, but the violation occurs if there are any formal discussions between the organizations, representation, etc regarding a new deal.
