Detroit Lions Re-Sign Tahir Whitehead To Two Year Deal

Despite some talks that he could sign with the Buccaneers, The Lions won’t lose linebacker Tahir Whitehead in free agency. Tahir agreed to re-sign with the Lions today on a two year deal worth over $8 million, according to sources.

A fifth-round pick in the 2012 draft, Whitehead played in all 16 games for the Lions last season, starting eight on defense and also working as a key contributor on special teams.

Although Whitehead lost his starting job to begin last season in Detroit, he retook the position beginning in Week 10 and excelled as a run defender in the Lions’ final eight games. Tahir racked up 50 total tackles, 2 sacks, and an interception last season.
