Diego Simeone Reaches Deal With Chelsea

London, England – Despite all rumors, Diego Simeone will in fact leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the season to take on a new challenge in the English Premier at the helm of one of England’s legendary clubs, Chelsea.

Despite the cleanup job that Guus Hiddink has done as an interim manager until the end of the campaign, it is being reported that Simeone has agreed to a $12.9 million deal with the Blues, leaving Atletico Madrid.

For a very long time, Simeone did not want to leave the club until this one had reached the peak of the mountain. However, being that the Colchoneros are not financially stable and have to constantly sell players in order to maintain itself competing at the top of La Liga, Simeone will abandon the ship in hopes to perhaps take on another challenge.

After all, Simeone has lead the Rojiblancos to several outstanding wins in Europe and in Spain, and came very close to winning the Champions League, if it hadn’t been for Sergio Ramos‘ header in Lisboa.

So what else is there for Simeone to do? For years he had been mentioned a suitable replacement to Jose Mourinho and it has been documented that Chelsea’s owner, Roman Abramovich, had always wanted to convince the Argentinian manager to join the Blues.

It is also being reported that former Chile head coach Jorge Sampaoli had also emerged as a genuine contender, but this is just a rumor to polarize the current on-going negotiations between the Blues and the Colchoneros.

Atletico Madrid is currently second in La Liga and in contention for the next round of playoffs in the Champions League as they are set to clash with PSV Eindhoven.
