Early WrestleMania 33 plans beginning to take shape for Monday Night RAW

With Randy Orton winning the 2017 Royal Rumble match the RAW brand had more questions than answers as the WWE is now in the beginning stages of the annual Road to WrestleMania. While everything is far from set in stone following the first episode of RAW following the Royal Rumble, it appears as if some early WrestleMania 33 are beginning to take shape for Monday Night RAW.

The first WrestleMania challenge to officially be placed was, to the shock of very few, was issued by “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar to Goldberg. This was one of the few WrestleMania matches fans everywhere figured would be on the horizon after Goldberg annihilated Lesnar at the Survivor Series in November.

But the biggest development of the night was quite possibly when it comes to Seth Rollins.

After Rollins invaded NXT Takeover: San Antonio on Saturday night, it was announced that Rollins and Monday Night RAW Commissioner, Stephanie McMahon would have a face-to-face regarding Rollins’ actions on Monday Night. Which they did and early in the confrontation it appeared as if Triple H would not be answering his former protégées repeated challenges on Monday Night, despite him invading “his house.”

But that was to only have McMahon drop the bombshell that HHH would in fact be in the arena later that night to confront Rollins.

And that he did, after a classic fire and brimstone Triple H promo to end the show, Rollins made his charge at “The Game” only to be blindsided by NXT’s Samoa Joe in a shocking debut.

What this means for the HHH vs Rollins match that has been the popular prediction for months among fans remains to be seen but it is hard to imagine that “The Samoan Submission Machine” won’t be involved heavily in WrestleMania this year, especially if this is a full time main roster call up and not just a one-off affair.

Along with that it appears as if Roman Reigns’ next foe will not be the WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and “The Big Dog” will now shift his focus toward Braun Strowman, the man who cost Reigns the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.

Reigns returned the favor on Monday Night Raw however, as he interfered in the Universal Championship Match between Owens and Strowman, that Owens had promised Strowman on Raw if he was able to get past Reigns first—which explains the seemingly unexpected run-in during the Royal Rumble.

It appears as if the Charlotte Flair vs Bayley feud will continue moving forward and the conventional wisdom should be on that feud going all the way through WrestleMania for two of the “Four Horsewomen.”

Besides those three, and potentially something with The Club and The Fellaship of the Swing very little on the mid to lower end of the card for WrestleMania appears to be any closer to being set than it was weeks ago. But in all reality it would be hard to imagine the WrestleMania 33 tag team match on the RAW brand not involving The New Day in some way.

Granted it is still very early on this Road to WrestleMania, it appears as if the RAW brand came out swinging following the Royal Rumble, but these next few weeks will be important for the brands momentum going forward.
