Pittsburgh Penguins star forward Evgeni Malkin will miss a bit of action with what is being called a lower-body injury.

Malkin, who has 54 points in 47 games played this year, has been a key element to the Penguins success as of late. He is tied for second in overall points with fellow Penguin Sidney Crosby and two points behind league leader Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers.

He recently starred in a humorous video advertising the All-Star Weekend, which had gained many quick views since it released. Now, it is an ad for a game weekend that he will not be a part of.

The Penguins will play their first game without Malkin on Thursday night as they travel to the TD Center to play the Boston Bruins. The Penguins sit in third place in the Metropolitan Division at 30-12-5.

Rumours on who may replace the All-Star include teammate Phil Kessel, who currently has 45 points in 47 games played.

The HONDA NHL All-Star Weekend will be held in Los Angeles, California at the home of the LA Kings, the Staples Center. The skills competition will take place on Saturday January 28 followed by the All-Star Game itself on Sunday.
