Chilean Fabian Orellana has joined Valencia from Celta Vigo

Valencia, Spain – Valencia have signed Celta Vigo winger Fabian Orellana on a two-and-a-half year deal after the Chilean’s fall-out with Celta boss Eduardo Berizzo, the club has confirmed.

“The agreement reached with RC Celta Vigo to bring him to Valencia CF is a loan deal until the end of the present season, with an option to buy that –if taken up- would extend his stay at the club until June 30th, 2019.”

The 31-year-old right-winger said he was thrilled to have joined Valencia and told the club’s website: “I’m overjoyed to have joined this great club. I hope to help as much as possible and repay the club for their faith.

“I’ve seen Valencia play and I think the team has improved and we have to continue.”

“I spoke with [Guilherme] Siqueira, who I know from our time at Granada CF, and with Santi Mina who I played with at Celta Vigo. They gave me very good references of the club.

“I’ve seen the club’s games and they’ve really stepped up their level a lot. We have to continue in this way.”

The Chile international netted 21 goals and assisted in 28 across 163 appearances with the Galicians, who he initially joined on loan in 2011 before making his move permanent.

Orellana was the second of two incoming players at Valencia this January, following the loan deal for Juventus striker Simone Zaza.

Valencia made an awful start to the season but are recovering and sit 15th in the La Liga table.
