The Cowboys’ offense returns to high octane form.

After two preseason games, the Dallas Cowboys have given fans a reason to get excited. Offensively, the numbers couldn’t be better, averaging a score of 32.5 points per game. The thrill of Cowboys football is back.

Aside from averaging over 30 points per game, the Cowboys’ offense has accumulated 37 first downs between the two contests and 768 yards of offense, including 275 yards gained on the ground.

As fans can recall, the key to success in 2014 was the ability of the Cowboys to run the ball effectively, so to see them rack up that amount of yardage on the ground gives fans hope.

Leading the way on the ground are running backs, Alfred Morris and Darius Jackson. Morris has gained 96 yards off just 18 carries. Jackson has gained 91 yards off 26 carries.

Darius Jackson is rookie selected by Dallas in the 6th round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He could potentially push for the 3rd string position on the running backs depth chart.

The Special Teams unit has played a great role in the Cowboys’ first two games as well. To open the 2016 preseason for Dallas, Lucky Whitehead took a 101 yard kickoff to the end zone to score the Cowboys’ first touchdown. With his speed and agility, he is a nightmare for opposing teams in that phase of the game.

In the second game against the dolphins the Cowboys returned four punts for 52 yards.

The real highlight of the Dallas Cowboys preseason thus far has been rookie quarterback, Dak Prescott. After selecting him in the 4th round out of Mississippi State in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Cowboys had low to mild expectations for him. After two games the Cowboys believe they have found a possible gem and the backup to Tony Romo.

Prescott has completed 22 out of 27 passes for 338 yards and four touchdowns. He also has rushed for two touchdowns.

He has posted a perfect quarterback rating through the preseason so far and looks like a vet already. Prescott looks comfortable, confident, poise, and he acts like he’s been there before. Cowboys fans everywhere are loving his play and hopefully that will continue as he leads the way for the 2016 Dallas Cowboys in the preseason.
