Nowitzki will Return for his 20th season.

Dallas Mavericks forward, Dirk Nowitzki has made it clear that he plans to return for the 2017-2018 NBA season. Returning for the 2017-2018 season would make 20 years in the NBA for the Mavericks forward. News flash Dallas fans Nowitzki will Return.

Drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 9th round during the 1988 NBA draft, the Bucks  immediately traded him to the Mavericks. Nowitzki is one of the few NBA players to play with one team his entire career.

The 16 year old From West Germany

The 7’0 big man from West Germany will be turning 39 this summer. The future hall of fame forward started preparing for his NBA journey at the age of 16.

The German native changed the image of the  power forward position. The 7-footer has helped change the negative connotation of foreign big men being “soft”. Nowitzki defied the stereo type with his versatile back to basket game, outside jumper, and competitive nature.

Nowitzki was trained by his mentor Holger Geschwindner, who was a former basketball player, and coach. Geschwindner is the reason Nowitzki caused so many matchup nightmares.

Geschwindner taught Nowitzki how to use his body as a shield, his signature off balance one foot fade away, and his mini shoulder shake that freezes the defenders.

Iconic Figure at the Four Spot

Despite the fact that the NBA is turning into a guard driven league, Nowitzki still finds a way to compete every night.

It doesn’t seem likely that the Mavericks will be competing for a NBA title any time soon, but, it is still exciting to watch the Mav’s play. The addition of newly acquired center Nerlens Noel has provided some energy for the starting lineup.

The addition of Nerlens has helped start the rebuilding process for the Mav’s. The Mav’s waived guard Deron Williams and traded center Andrew Bogut. Waving Williams has opened more time for upcoming guard Yogi Ferrel.

The title hopes for the city of Dallas, Texas may be over for now, but, we can’t forget Nowitzki led the Mavericks to their first title in the 2011 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. Super teams with three superstars has become a trend in the league, but, Nowitzki was able to overcome the trio of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh.

The 2016-2017 campaign has been injury riddled for Nowitzki, but, he still provides total effort.  Through the ups and the down’s, Nowitzki has remained faithful. The loss of Nowitzki will be sad day for the NBA, but, at least we get one more season with the future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki.

Nowitzki will Return next season!
