Haason Reddick drafted by the Arizona Cardinals

Haason Reddick attended Haddon Heights High School in Haddon Heights, New Jersey. As a member of the Garnets’ football team, he played as a running back and safety for coach Ralph Shalvo. Due to a fractured femur, Reddick appeared in only four games his senior year.

In 2012, Haason became a walk-on member of the Temple University football team. He was a redshirt freshman in his first season. Although he did not play in the first three games of the 2013 season, he did appear in each of the Owls’ final nine contests. Beginning as primarily a special-teams player, Reddick was moved to defensive end after the second bye of the season.

The Camden, New Jersey native has earned several accolades during his time at Temple. In 2015, Haason was selected for all-conference honorable mention by the AAC and was also All-AAC Third Team. After recording 65 tackles and 10.5 sacks in his senior season, he earned First-Team All-AAC honors.

Haason Reddick showed his athleticism at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine. He displayed an explosive first step and ability to change directions quickly. Haason’s instincts and anticipation make him one of the first men to move at the snap. While his pass-rush ability will be the first thing teams will want to take advantage of, he also has the ability to help on coverage drops.

Because of his desire to penetrate into the backfield and his aggressiveness, Reddick has a tendency to overrrun plays. For the position that Haason plays, he is undersized by NFL standards and he may have difficulty holding up at the line of scrimmage. Though he has shown improvement with his hands, he will still need to work on technique to control blockers.

Final Thoughts

Haason Reddick is a young athlete on the rise. If he continues to hone his craft, he has the potential to become great in the league. He has the physicality to get off blockers at all three levels. With his athleticism and instincts, Reddick will be legit cover talent as a linebacker.
