Hanley Ramirez’s incredible week was capped off with him winning the American League player of the week honors. Ramirez went 7-21 (.333) during the week of July 18th through July 24th. Five of Hanley Ramirez’s hits left the ballpark and 3 of Hanley’s home runs came in a game against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night.

During Wednesday night’s game Hanley went 3-4 with 3 home runs and 6 RBI’s. Hanley becomes one of 7 Red Sox to hit 3 home runs at Fenway Park, the list includes the like of Ted Williams, Bobby Doerr and Nomar Garciaparra.

Ramirez becomes the second Red Sox player this year to win player of the week honors as Center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. won it back in May. This was the first time Hanley Ramirez has won the player of the week award in the American League. Hanley won the National League player of the week back in 2009 with the Miami Marlins.

For winning player of the week Hanley will receive a watch courtesy of Game Time.
