ICYMI: Tyler Reddick Wins DC Solar 350 at Las Vegas

Tyler Reddick not only played spoiler, but schooled the Truck Series Chase participants Saturday night as he won the DC Solar 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This was his first win of the season. Teammate  Daniel Hemric finished second, followed by Cole Custer, Ben Kennedy, and William Byron to round out the top 5.

Tyler Reddick may have failed to make the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase in it’s first season, but it didn’t stop him from outclassing the field with a race high 70 laps led en route to his win.

“It’s an incredible accomplishment, not just for our team but for the whole organization,” Reddick told Fox Sports 1. “I’m just kind of breathless and speechless. It’s a big deal for everybody on this team.”

Reddick held off a strong challenge from teammate Daniel Hemric late, including getting Hemric loose, which essentially proved to be the difference in the race. This is also the first 1-2 finish for Brad Keselowski Racing as a Truck Series team.

Other storylines from DC Solar 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday’s  include:

  • The night was a historical one for BKR. Not only Hemeric and Reddick produced the teams first ever 1-2 finish, but it was their first win at a 1.5 mile or higher track.
  • Six other Chase drivers finished fourth through ninth: Ben Kennedy, William Byron, Christopher Bell, Johnny Sauter, Matt Crafton and pole-sitter Timothy Peters.
  • The lone Chase driver outside the top 10 was John Hunter Nemechek, who finished 16th.

Next Race Up: The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series takes the next two weeks before the Round of 8 finale at Talladega Superspeedway with the Fred’s 250.
