Ilkay Gundogan Out Of Euro

Euro 2016

Ilkay Gundogan

Dortmund, Germany – Borussia Dortmund and Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has suffered a dislocated kneecap and will miss the Euro 2016, the club announced Friday.

The 25-year-old missed training on Thursday to run further testings, which later spilled that horrible results which indicated he would not take part in the Euro 2016 with Germany.

Gundogan hasn’t played since Dortmund’s 3-0 win over Hamburg last month.

Gundogan has been target of several top European clubs in England, Spain and Italy.  Gundogan has been strongly linked with a summer move to the Etihad, with Pep Guardiola having made him one of his primary targets this summer. His injury could now put a possible move to Guardiola’s Manchester City in doubt.

The German international missed out on the World Cup last year alongside Dortmund teammate Marco Reus, who was injured in one of the final warm up games. Gundogan has bounced back from multiple injuries, including a mysterious back problem that cost him more than a year of action.

The amount of injuries that Gundogan has suffered through his career may be flagging him from making the jump to one of the top flight clubs in Europe.
