With rumors speculating a move out Bernabeu around the Real Madrid midfielder, is Isco the solution to Barcelona’s midfield problems?

Madrid, Spain – With the summer transfer right around the corner, rumors begun to surface of which players may be on the move. This is the case of Real Madrid midfielder Isco, who seems to be unhappy with his playing time. However, the real questions lies in knowing is Isco the solution to Barcelona’s midfield problems?

Just several weeks ago, news broke that the 24-year-old had rejected a contract extension with the club while considering other opportunities. Additionally, Jota Jordi confirmed to El Chiringuito that Isco’s agent made contact with Barcelona but he himself had also been in contact with Barcelona. Furthermore, Jordi went further into saying “Isco has always wanted to play for Barça, and now has the chance to do so, but it is a complicated transfer.”

Additionally, Catalan radio station RAC1 reported that Barcelona had offered Isco a 20 million euros signing bonus if he joined on a free.

However, when confronted by reporters, Isco said “”We players are used to rumors, especially when there is less football during the international break, but I don’t know why some media have to invent things.

“I speak on the pitch and try to do the best I can for my team.”

But, is Isco the solution to Barcelona’s midfield problems?

The midfield has been Barcelona’s success for the last decade. That is what the tiki-taka is all about. A team you couldn’t take the ball from, and moving it from side to side with ease. Yes, the MSN trio, composed by Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, is lethal, but its midfield suffers. If not, reflect back on the 4-0 loss in Paris against PSG. The Catalan club was unable to sustain the pressure. They couldn’t build an attack, let alone stop one from coming at them. In order for the MSN to work, someone needs to have the ability to pass them the ball. The Catalans have struggled all season long against teams that press effectively.

With Xavi Hernandez no longer with the club and an aging Andres Iniesta, the club must seek out for answers. With Ivan Rakitic, Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez, Arda Turan and Rafinha, the Catalan side has seen very little success this season. There’s no simple solution to fix this Barcelona midfield, and that’s probably the most worrying.

The answer lies in Isco, the Real Madrid play-maker. The heir apparent of Iniesta for some. The Catalan midfield can benefit from Isco’s skillset. Isco’s potential, despite lacking defensive skills, his creative and ball-playing talents gain magical levels. Isco needs a regular starting spot and the freedom to play behind the striker if he is to make the most of his potential.

Where it happens in Barcelona remains to be seen. But, with every game on the bench, it is clear Isco needs to leave Bernabeu.
