Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic agrees to new four-deal contract with Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain – Ivan Rakitic has agreed to a new four-deal contract with Barcelona until June 30, 2021. Just a day away from the biggest comeback in history of Champions League, the Catalan club announced the extension.

Additionally, The Croatian’s fresh terms include an eye-watering buy-out clause of 125million euros, equating to around $132 million.

The 28-year-old will officially sign his new contract in a ceremony at 1 P.M (Catalan time) on Friday.

He moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2014 as a 26-year-old from Sevilla. Furthermore, became Barcelona boss Luis Enrique’s favorite player that summer.

The Croatia international has enjoyed great success since his 2014 arrival from Sevilla, having won La Liga twice, the Copa Del Rey twice, and the Champions League once.

Following his contract presentation, Rakitic will aim to help Barcelona retain top spot in a trip to the Riazor to face Deportivo La Coruña on Sunday.
