James Rodriguez, Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo have been ruled out against Sevilla for Copa del Rey

Madrid, Spain – Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has ruled out James Rodiguez, Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo in the second leg against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey on Thursday, the club announced.

James Rodriguez suffered a muscular injury and will rest when Madrid tries to defend a 3-0 win from the first leg. Madrid can advance to the quarterfinals even with a two-goal loss at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Zidane in a press conference spoke about James’ injury “He has felt something in the soleus and as always we do not want to risk,” he told a news conference.

“I think it is a small thing but when there is something we have to be cautious because we have many games lefts. Let’s see how it will evolve, but I will not risk anything with it, “he added.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the starting eleven for the 5-0 win over Granada at the weekend, but will be allowed to sit out Thursday’s clash again. He was also in Zurich to receive The Best player award given by FIFA.

Modric, meanwhile, has featured for the full 90 minutes in Madrid’s first two games of 2017, but Zidane does not need the Croatia international at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Isco will also miss the trip to Sevilla due to a minor problem, while Pepe and Gareth Bale remain unavailable, too.

Sergio Ramos, Lucas Vazquez and Mateo Kovacic all return.
