Keanu Neal Selected 17th In The 2016 NFL Draft

NFL: Keanu Neal

With the 17th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft the Atlanta Falcons  have selected Safety Keanu Neal from University of Florida.

One of the last prospects I actually took a look at. Neal as the NFL frame already. He has all the makings of a high talent safety. He’s not afraid of contact and coming up to support the run. Whether that’s playing as a box safety or a single high safety.

He could have a little bit better awareness since he is a safety and is basically that last line of defense. I’ve seen him often get off track with the deep ball. Overall, he’s an athlete that has unique cover skills with good enough instincts to be a solid starter in this league with the right coaching. Beware when he’s on the field.

Keanu finished his career with 146 tackles, 2 sacks, 9 passes defended, and 4 interceptions over 34 games (starting 19 games). He is a physical striker but doesn’t square up his target when making a tackle. Some scouts questioned why he would opt to enter the NFL draft.

Neal is a superb hitter and he loves to lay the wood.  He has potential to succeed with the Falcons and should be an immediate help as a strong safety/linebacker.
