Kershaw, Dodgers Hoping for a Return Next Week

The Los Angeles Dodgers are crossing their fingers in the hope that their Ace, Clayton Kershaw could be back as early as next week.  The Dodgers and Kershaw are aiming for a possible return next Friday night in St. Louis if the planned timetable can work out.

Los Angeles manager, Dave Roberts said Kershaw will likely throw a simulated game in LA on Sunday and he is unlikely to make a Minor League rehab start.  With the simulated game on Sunday, that would put Kershaw on track to return to the Dodgers for the series opener versus the Cardinals.

“We’re really encouraged,” said Roberts.  “For Clayton, not a whole lot’s left.  He said he is feeling well.”

Kershaw is coming from a slight disc herniation in his lower back and has been on the disabled list since June 27th.  The return of Kershaw could not come at a better time as the Dodgers are starting the second half 6.5 games back of the San Francisco Giants.

With Joc Pederson set to start his rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City and join the Dodgers Tuesday in Washington, the Dodgers are feeling better about their chances the rest of the way.
