Kyle Busch wins ESPY’s Best Driver award

On last night’s 24th annual ESPY award ceremony NASCAR’s own Kyle “Rowdy” Busch added yet another piece of hardware to his endlessly growing trophy case. The 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion won the ESPY’s Best Driver award by beating out the likes of 2015 F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton, 2015 Indy Car Champion Scott Dixon, 2015 NHRA Pro Stock Champion Eric Enders-Stevens, and 2016 Indy 500 Champion Alexander Rossi.

Racing fans all around the world were lucky enough to see one of the greatest comebacks in the history of Motorsports by Busch. During the 2015 Xfinity Series opener at Daytona Kyle Busch lost control of his car and veered towards a concrete infield wall exiting the tri-oval leading to a vicious impact. The impact led to Busch suffering a compound fracture in his right leg and a broken left foot. At this point the 2015 season seemed lost for Busch as his timetable for return was uncertain. After the first 11 races out of competition, Busch returned to the car and soon got on a role by winning 4 of 5 races during a stretch of the summer, therefore, clinching him a spot in NASCAR’s Chase.

While in the Chase, Busch was able to make it to the finish and was able to scratch and claw his way into the round of 8. Once the Chase’s round of 8 began he caught fire notching a top 5 finish in all three races and punching his ticket to the Championship 4. Seemingly still feeding of the doubt of even being deemed undeserving of being in the Chase, Busch led 41 laps en route to a race win which capped off the feat winning the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.

In 2015 Kyle started with the lowest of lows but rebounded to win the biggest prize in NASCAR which is a feat certainly worthy of winning the ESPY’s Best Driver award no matter who his competition was.
