Leicester Signs Spanish Defender Luis Hernandez

Leicester, England – EPL Champions Leicester City have signed Spanish defender Luis Hernandez on a four-year deal from Sporting Gijon, the club announced.

The 27-year-old will join the Premier League club on a free transfer on July 1, 2016.

The center back is a product of the Real Madrid youth academy, representing the the club’s B and A sides before joining Gijon in 2012. Since, he has been helping Sporting rise through the ranks, earning himself 41 appearances during the 2014/15.

His contributions also secured a final day survival for the club in La Liga. in which they secured a 2-0 win over Villarreal that kept them in first division.

Hernandez becomes Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri’s second signing of the summer following the capture of German keeper Ron-Robert Zieler from Hannover.
