Man United In Battle To Keep De Gea, Rodriguez Swap Deal

Premier League-

Manchester United face a battle to retain David De Gea this summer.

Interest from Real Madrid has surrounded Spanish Keeper De Gea for the past two seasons now. The keeper nearly signed for Madrid in the summer of 2015. A deal was in place and failed paperwork is the sole reason 26-year-old is still a United player.

Operation David De Gea

Operation David De Gea is a formula Madrid hope to introduce to finally sign the highly rated goalkeeper. This consists of a player plus cash deal. The player Madrid will offer United is James Rodriguez. The Colombian has played a bit part role for Madrid this season, appearing only 25 times with most of them appearances being as a substitute.

James Rodriguez

Rodriguez burst well and truly on to the scene during the 2014 World Cup. Rodriguez was well known before this, having played for Porto and just signed for Monaco. The World Cup saw him up his talent a level. Rodriguez scored six goals in the World Cup, with this goal winning the Puskas award for goal of the year.

David De Gea has proved he is on the best goalkeepers in the world. The Spanish international has showed his true professionalism since his move to Madrid fell through. One performance in particular stands out. A performance that elevated De Gea’s recognition worldwide. This was the 3-0 win at Old Trafford against rivals Liverpool. The Red Devils goalkeeper made 16 saves in one match in what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed as the,” best goalkeeping performance I’ve seen”.

United face a tough task keeping hold of their beloved keeper this summer. Is the addition of James Rodriguez better then the loss of David De Gea? Can Sergio Romero step up if the Spaniard does leave?
