Marc-Andre ter Stegen will be out of Spanish Super Cup first leg

Barcelona, Spain – Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will be out of the Spanish Super Cup first leg due to a knee injury in suffered in Thursday training, the club announced.

The German sprained a ligament in his left knee during the morning training session following the 3-2 defeat of Sampdoria.

Several reports from the Catalan capital have speculated a sense of unhappiness with the 24-year-old German who is against the idea of spending another year sharing goal with Chilean Claudio Bravo. Should the reports be true, Luis Enrique’s decision has been made for him as he had to choose between him and Bravo. In addition, he would had needed to claimed he had already made his mind up, but the injury has resolved the issue, at least for now.

With Ter Stegen out, the Chilean stopper will start on Saturday against Sevilla.

Rumors from Manchester have indicated that City boss Pep Guardiola wanted to snatch the German from Barcelona and had promised him all the playing time possible as he has very little confident in English stopper Joe Hart. His injury may have stalled trade talks until winter trade line in January.
