German Striker Mario Gomez Has Joined Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg, Germany – Wolfsburg have announced the signing of Germany striker Mario Gomez from Fiorentina.

Gomez, 31, was presented as a Wolfsburg player on Thursday, completing his return to the Bundesliga.

The striker, who will cost a reported 7 million euros, made the move to Italy in 2013 but spent last season on loan at Besiktas.

Gomez smashed 26 goals in 33 Super Lig games to pick up Turkey’s Golden Boot award and also help the Istanbul club claim the league title in 2015-16.

Gomez was full of praises for his new club saying, “The Team possesses massive potential and I wanted to return to the Bundesliga.”

“I am hungry for success and so is this club. That’s the reason I’ve come here.”

“The conditions here in Wolfsburg are exceptional. If we can play accordingly, we will be very successful!!!”

Gomez, who also played for Stuttgart in Germany, has scored 138 goals in 236 Bundesliga matches.
