Javier Mascherano

Barcelona, Spain – Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano has an ‘agreement in principle’ with the Serie A Champions, Juventus.

It turns out that Barcelona does not want to sell the player, but the Argentina international has been seeking a salary increase to which the Cule club has not obliged to.

Maschereno would sign a three year deal with Juve and would see a considerable rise compare to that of what he currently makes for the Catalan club.

The Bianconeri want two top midfielders to strengthen their light midfield. The long term injury to Claudio Marchisio and the injury-prone Sami Khedira have been triggers of the move.

According to the Catalan paper, a three-year deal has been agreed between the midfielder and the Turin outfit.

Mascherano is under contract until 2018, and the release clause in his deal is set at €100m, a price the La Vecchia Signora would obviously not meet.

In any case, there has been rumors that Barcelona wants to acquire another forward, which opens to door to a trade between the two clubs for Paulo Dybala.

Dybala is said to be delighted with the idea of joining Lionel Messi in Barcelona, though many other clubs in Europe, like Real Madrid, are also interested in the Argentine striker.

Nothing is confirmed from either club and Mascherano is currently joining the Argentina national team who will be participating in the Copa America Centenario to take place in the United States.
