The Sandwich Hunter also known as Matt Bonner isn’t your typical fan favorite but he has sure made his mark on the NBA. Today, January 6th, 2017, Matt Bonner calls it a day and walks away from the National Basketball Association.

Matt Bonner played basketball under Billy Donovan at the University of Florida from 1999 to 2003. He was later selected with the 45th pick by the Chicago Bulls in the 2003 NBA Draft but was later traded to the Toronto Raptors. He was told by the Raptors that their was not a roster spot available and that he need to play elsewhere. He was also told they would try and look into including Bonner in the Raptors future blueprints for success. In the meantime, Bonner signed with the Sicily Messina were he played for a season.

Bonner signed a one-year deal in September of ’04 to play for the Raptors. He became the first Raptor rookie to play all 82 games in a season. That season he averaged 7.2 points and 3.6. That was good enough to earn him another contract for another two seasons in the Six.

Bonner was traded with Eric Williams and a second round draft pick to the San Antonio Spur for Rasho Nesterović and cash considerations in the summer of 2006. He would play for the Spurs for the next ten years being an offensive threat off the bench. His six-foot ten inch frame allowed him to grab a rebound when needed and his offensive ability allowed him shoot from the beyond the arc. Bonner never averaged more than eight and a half points and five rebounds but that sure did not stop the fans down in San Antonio from cheering him on in full force.

Matt is a two-time NBA champ with the Spurs with a 4-0 series win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007 and a 4-1 series win over the Miami Heat in 2014.

Below you can view his three-point shooters touch that he showed off in the 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend 3-Point Shootout.

He was also known for his antics on and off the court.

For Bonner the only way to go out is in a hilarious manner. You can check out the video below:

Expect to see him on the sidelines, on television, or in the booth in the coming year with his endless basketball comedy.
