Matt DiBenedetto, David Regan Not Returning To BK Racing in 2017

BK Racing is starting anew in 2017 with new drivers.

The team announced in subsequent days this week that drivers Matt DiBenedetto and David Regan will not return to the team in 2017. While DiBenedetto mutually parted way with the team, Regan’s contract was a one year deal and BK Racing chose to not to retain him for 2017.

“BK Racing is in the process of trying to restructure the company,” team owner Ron Devine said. “Our finishes of 33rd and 35th in the standings, did not achieve our goals. We had a one-year agreement with David Ragan that has since expired and we have elected not to renew his contract.”

Devine also spoke highly of DiBenedetto in a separate press release at the time of his departure. “I am, however, very proud of Matt DiBenedetto and his many accomplishments over the past two years. He is a wonderful driver and a special person. I am confident that Matt will go on to be a very successful NASCAR driver, and I believe it is the right time to release him so that he can pursue other opportunities. Myself and everyone at BK Racing wishes Matt all the best in his future endeavors. I am looking forward to much success for both Matt and BK Racing.”

BK Racing is expected to keep a two car stable going in 2017 with a variety of drivers to be named at a later time.
